Welcome back to Morning Belz. I ended this morning email, formerly known as “Opening Belz,” abruptly in 2017 thanks to a combination of personal news fatigue, becoming a father of multiple children, and growing responsibility for other ventures. I’m now leaving my job at the Star Tribune to start a new venture and I’m going to try to revive the morning email. Discerning readers will notice the name has changed. That’s just me being legalistic. I have to acknowledge that most mornings I won’t beat the opening bell on Wall Street so I’d better just promise to put this out in the a.m.
So here’s the first Morning Belz in almost three years. Please subscribe if you’d like to keep receiving it, and share it with your friends.

About this email: I’m a former newspaper reporter and I send this email most mornings to keep in touch, and to force myself to stay informed. You are one of about 400 people who gets it, including economists, diplomats, manufacturers, people in banking, insurance, real estate, shipping, IT and consulting, non-profit directors, engineers, recruiters, a barge operator, a crop analyst, regulators, a baker, professors, lawyers, lobbyists, a poet, congressional staffers, venture capitalists, journalists, a pastor, financial advisors, my fifth-grade teacher, my mom, my dad and my wife. If you know people who’d enjoy it, please share it. Find my new venture, Scuffed News, on YouTube and Twitter. Email me at scuffedtips@gmail.com
