Welcome to Morning Belz by me, Adam Belz. I ended this morning email, formerly known as “Opening Belz,” abruptly in 2017. I’m now going to try to revive it, but I have to acknowledge that most mornings I won’t beat the opening bell on Wall Street so I’d better just promise it comes out in the morning.

In case you forgot what it’s like, here’s the last one I published, from November 2017:

Progressives have taken climate policy in 2 different directions - Atlantic
Portrait of Jesus by Da Vinci sells for $450 million - NPR
Remember Rubio’s water bottle moment? Trump had one - Twitter
Obama library highlights fears of gentrification in south Chicago - CityLab
Senate tax bill would tax more university stuff - Inside Higher Ed
Karl Rove versus Steve Bannon is happening - New Yorker
Paper: The persistence of frontier cultural mores - NBER
75th anniversary of the battle of Stalingrad, on which WWII turned - NY Times

Mine
R.T. Rybak to help lead Frey transition team - Star Tribune

Quote
“Job endured everything -- until his friends came to comfort him, then he grew impatient.” - Kierkegaard, 1849

About this email:  I’m a reporter for the Star Tribune. I send this email most mornings to keep in touch, and to force myself to read broadly. You are one of about 400 people who gets it, including economists, diplomats, manufacturers, people in banking, insurance, real estate, shipping, IT and consulting, non-profit directors, engineers, recruiters, a barge operator, a crop analyst, regulators, a baker, professors, lawyers, lobbyists, a poet, congressional staffers, venture capitalists, journalists, a pastor, financial advisors, my fifth-grade teacher, my mom, my dad and my wife. If you know people who’d enjoy it, please share it and let them know to email me to get on the list. I would love to correspond. And let me know if you’d like to be taken off the list.

Sign up now so you don’t miss the first issue.

In the meantime, tell your friends!
